The product was provided by Tatcha, but all opinions are our own.
It’s undoubtably hot in the summer–especially in Houston, where it’s both hot and humid! That means AC and DRY skin all day, whether in the car or at home. Luckily we’ve been fortunate enough to try out Tatcha’s Luminous Dewy Skin Mist, which inevitably piqued our interest in facial mists! Here’s what we learned about mists, and don’t forget to stay tune for our review of the Tatcha mist!
Toners and Mists are different
Yes, they may seem similar, especially since they’re both liquids containing good-for-your-skin ingredients. However, the ultimate purposes for a toner and a mist are different. A toner is used to remove extra oils and dirt that your cleanser might have missed. It will also help balance the pH levels of your skin and give it an additional exfoliation. On the other hand, a mist is used to hydrate the skin. It is more gentle and soothing than a toner and can be used throughout the day.
Mists can be used in many, many different ways
Mists aren’t just for moisturizing. Depending on the ingredients, mists can have many and multiple properties! Take a look at the list below:
- Control sebum
- Set makeup
Mists can be used anytime, anywhere
Mists are perfect for both the summer and winter season. During the hot, summer months, we can go overboard with the AC, and as a result, our skin will get quite dry and uncomfortable! That’s how many skin is feeling right now! However, during the winter months, the air already tends to drying, and our skin can definitely feel that change. Depending on the properties for each mist, you’ll definitely find one that’s perfect for the season.
Moreover, mists are great for travels! If you find a travel-sized version, it’ll definitely come in handle for a long road trip or a long light. Mists are such a refreshing pick-me-up!
We’re totally in love with this beauty. The Tatcha mist is a milky emulsion that moisturizers the skin and makes it feel soft and look refreshed! It contains quite a few interesting and research-backed ingredients: squalane, red algae, and the Tatcha HADASEI-3 complex, all of which contribute to the mist’s ability to soothe and hydrate the skin to look dewy and luminous.
- Squalane: is an oil found naturally in the body, but its production slows greatly after 30 years of age, which can contribute to dry skin. Squalane creates a protective barrier between the skin and the environment, allowing the skin to retain moisture.
- Red algae: is used in beauty products for its moisturizing properties. It is rich in good-for-you nutrients such as amino acids and antioxidants.
- HADASEI-3 complex: is Tatcha’s own unique blend of ingredients: green tea, Japanese rice bran, and Okinawa red algae extract.
The Luminous Dewy Skin Mist is perfect for dry and combination skin. It’s 40mL, so it’s small enough to bring along for travels (plane or road trip) to refresh your skin! This product is really easy to use, smells absolutely amazing, and makes our skin glow! We feel like pampering ourselves whenever we use it!
We typically use it a few times throughout the day–whenever our skin feels really dry from the AC. However, we also use it after we shower: as the water evaporates from your face, the skin feels really tight, and by using the mist, the skin remains moisturized. The only downside was that the spray was inconsistent: sometimes, we needed 4-5 sprays, but other times less.
Overall, we really enjoyed this product! It was definitely fun to try something new!
Have you every used a facial mist before?
